Windows Vista is Microsoft’s latest and greatest operating system, probably destined to be with us for another 5 years so should you upgrade? Well the answer is literally yes and no.

Windows Vista depending on which version you buy will put a much greater strain on your Pc than Windows XP for example.

One piece of your hardware that will be affected will be you graphics. If you want to be using the aero features in Vista (if you’ve the right version) then this needs to be up to the job other wise it will drastically affect your Pc’s performance.

Just upgrading a card is not an option for many users as they will have an older AGP based motherboard and whilst you can still buy these cards (just), they will not give you the best performance and it can be a waste of money.

If you have a computer that is more than a couple of years old , then think carefully before upgrading. You may be better sticking with what you have for another year or so and then getting a new PC with Vista pre-installed.

Check your spec with your computer repairer before upgrading to be on the safe side, a computer repair call out should not be too expensive and your repairer can check your system at the same time.

Every so often to keeps the wheels of profitability going Microsoft goes and improves their software for us which is ever so kind of them.

Problem is though that no matter how much of a spin they put on the reasoning (Pc security, Software stability, increased memory capability better GUI - graphical user interface) it all seems to come down to us spending more money.

Sure it great to be on the latest and greatest version of everything (in theory) but it does come at a price when it comes to software as well as time which is a factor many tend to overlook.

Upgrading from Windows XP  to Vista is not a simple as just upgrading the operating system, you have to consider hard drive space, computer memory and graphics capability as well.

If you are not sure do take advice as an operating system upgrade can literally slow your computer to a crawl if it is not up to spec.
